September Challenge

Hello!

Happy almost fall! I am a fall girly and love every minute of fall. The leaves changing, the cooler temperatures, and sweaters. I am also one of those people who love to decorate real early for fall and I am not sorry for it. :) September is a good month to have almost like a reset for the rest of the year. Most of the kiddos just started school, the weather is slightly changing, and it starts the season of fall. I have decided to do a challenge for myself this month.

How many of us at the beginning of the year created a list of things to start doing or change for “New Year resolutions”? How many of us actually stick with them? I fully believe we have great intentions when we create them for ourselves but if you are like me, they don’t have realistic expectations. Personally, I have did great on some but poorly on the others and have been putting myself down because I am still struggling to meet them. I saw someone on a TikTok that they are doing this “reset”. It can be what anyone wants, but why do we need to wait for the beginning of next year to start a change? I took her idea of a “reset” and turned it into something for myself.

During the month of September I have created a list of items I want to accomplish each day. I encourage you to think about what you want to do this month and write it out. It does not have to look like mine or be as long/short as mine. It can be whatever you would like it to be. Here are the 5 items I would like to complete each day this month.

  1. Drink 3 40oz of water each day.

I have a cute pink 40oz cup that I drink out of everyday. I usually drink 2 of them a day and I want to push myself to drink 3 a day. Usually I am on my 3rd one before I go to bed, but I would like to completely drink it before bed. Let me tell you, it’s harder than you think. So far, I was able to do that on my first day but it’s hard when you are busy and you don’t think about it. I have noticed from the past that when I drink more water, I feel better. I feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally. Weird, right?

  2. Move for 30 minutes a day.

A couple of months ago, I started going to the gym and attending a class. That was honestly the best I felt in a long time. The class pushed me and had a group of people who attended who also motivated me. Currently right now, I am not going to the gym. I am hoping to get back into it next month. Right now, I am working out at home. Sometimes, I look at the mat and weights and think, I could be doing something else more productive. We all know that our bodies are really important and we need to make them a priority. I have decided to move 30 minutes a day, at least. My goal is to do Pilates 3x a week, Yoga 2x a week, and walk 2x a week. If I feel good that day and want to do more, then all for it. But I need to do at least one for 30 minutes. So far, it’s been nice. I do miss the gym atmosphere but my system is working so far. I know it’s only day 3 but it’s still working so far!

  3. Read the Bible each day.

I have been enjoying learning the Word and diving into it for my personal Bible study. I have been consistent 3 days a week but I want to challenge myself to do it daily. During the 3 times a week, I have created a space for myself and I really enjoy it. Now, I just need to push myself to do it daily. Right now, I have been going to my bed at night and studying the Word before I go to sleep. I have been carrying my Bible upstairs to do so and I think that is what I am going to keep doing. That way, I have it in my hand and that makes me do something with it. I have one beside my bed but I have found that I look at it but then watch tv or scroll on my phone. I have always dreamt of being a daily Bible reader.

  4. Write/Research for my blog daily.

I have struggled with being consistent with writing/positing my blogs. I really enjoy doing it but sometimes, life gets busy and I don’t put it on my priority list. I know sometimes, I can’t help my schedule but while I am working from home, I want to be intentional with it. I am going to research or write daily. It could be a couple of sentences to writing a full blog. I just want to be intentional each day to better myself and the website. I am hoping that this kicks off me posting again and continuing my posts for everyone.

  5. Do something for myself each day.

I, like most people, get too wrapped up in the world that we forget to take time for ourselves. I want to do something intentional for myself each day. It could be taking a long hot bath, painting my nails, doing a face mask, seeing a friend for lunch, taking a drive. Whatever I feel like doing that day, I am going to be intentional with it. With working from home, I do have a little more freedom to be intentional. I think we all deserve to be intentional with ourselves each day. I know personally, some days I just want to lay on the couch and watch a couple of episodes and I shouldn’t feel guilty for that, if that is what I need for the day.

These are the items that I am challenging myself with this month. I am hoping to carry out these items for later months but we are going to start small and kick this challenge in the butt! I know this is coming out after the 1st but it is never too late. Sit down, write out a couple of items you want to focus on this month and start doing it! I am going to try to do a follow up post on how mine are going and definitely one at the end of the month.

Reminder to myself and to you: We are human, be kind to yourself. The only person who could do this challenge perfectly would be Christ. We are not Him, it’s okay to mess up or miss something. What matters is how we pick ourselves up and try it again the next day. If there is something you are struggling to meet daily, re-write your items to meet a more realistic challenge. Maybe it’s 2x a week versus 3x a week. This challenge is to be intentional and to push ourselves to be better.

I love you all and I am excited for you all to join me on this reset challenge. I would love to know what your items are! If I can help in any way, please let me know!

Created for a purpose.
